Water Jewels

Whenever I go to an aquarium, the jellyfish exhibits captivate me the most. Although they have their identifying structure - the cap and ribbon-like tentacles - they come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors. I remember seeing an exhibit where tiny white jellyfish pulsed in the dark water, as if they were stars or floating veils. Aptly, they were called moon jellyfish.

Jellyfish motions are mesmerizing, with a hypnotizing effect that lures you to their beauty and mystery.

But beware...I read that they sting, which can be painful and toxic.

So perhaps they are best admired through a glass barrier of intimate access, for lasting wonder.

  1. Jellyfishes are scary!!!! Wait till you're in the ocean and they latch on you like a leech. Then you wouldn't think that they're cute at all.

  2. I got stung by a jellyfish before. It was bad enough that it was really painful but it was even worse to have to be peed on to relieve the sting then my eyes swelled out from an allergic reaction.

They're pretty and fascinating in the aquariums though.
