Tulip Rainbow

From Facebook and email photos from my sister-in-law and brother, respectively, I learned that my niece Grace went to the Tulip Festival yesterday in Skagit Valley (Washington state).

The blooms were bright and colorful in contrast to the gray skies. And although the weather seemed to be cold and windy, being in the midst of the multi-colored tulip blossoms embraced and amazed the spectators - young and old - with cheerful and inspiring warmth.

Grace was as tall as the tulip stalks as she admired the blossoms with sight and touch. With her pink jacket and purple knit cap, she easily blended in. I think it will be an annual tradition for her to see the tulips. I remember the photos from last year...but she was just a few months old then and largely asleep as she basked in her baby sunglasses. As she grows older and more aware, it is exciting to see her appreciate and reach out to nature's wonder.
