Double Feature

It was a sunny, pleasant Saturday afternoon and I had free tickets so I decided some movie-watching. The first was "Revolutionary Road." It was good to see the team of Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio in more mature and intense roles, which I enjoyed more than their "Titanic" days. Or maybe I have just grown up too, with different sensibilities, that made Revolutionary Road live up to its literal and figurative implications.

It was a very nice evening when I left the theater; a little warmer than past evenings so I took a walk in big strides to stretch my legs, enjoy the breeze, and the evening sights. Up above, the very bright full moon caught my eye. I wrote about the full moon before ("Full Moon," December 13, 2008 entry) and it was nice to get reacquainted. It had the illusion of following me while I walked, being my guiding light.

I knew that Kate Winslet had another movie out, "The Reader," so when I found another theater screening it, I decided to watch it. By the time I entered the auditorium, it was nearly full. Whereas I was able to comfortably sit in the last row for RR, I occupied a third row front seat for TR, which was shortly filled up with patrons. I leaned back to allow for the most convenient viewing position that I could get, reminding me of how it was like to sit in a planetarium.

It was interesting to see Kate Winslet in a very different role, in a movie as intense as RR but for different reasons. What I can say is that both movies will linger with me for a bit.

I liked both, but now I need some comedy!
