I finally saw the Pixar movie, "Up."
I have read very good reviews about it and heard recommendations from family and friends. Somehow, when it first opened in theaters nearly a year ago, I didn't feel very enthused. Yes, the visuals were impressive but I think what put me off at the time was the very square-shaped head of the elderly character. I can't really explain why but the square head made me feel ... a little claustrophobic.
But last night, square-head aside, I saw the movie. It was touching, funny, silly, heartwarming, redeeming. And in more than one instance, I felt hot streaks of tears streaming down my face, broken by laughter, buoyed by a sense of adventure, awe and hope.
It was a very moving film.
If I am to summarize what it meant to me: it's about dreams, promises, holding on and letting go.
