Bouquets

Last Sunday, I walked to my local Farmers Market with a specific goal: get a Valentine's Day bouquet of flowers for me.

It wasn't crowded when I arrived and the selection of flowers and bouquets were all displayed for the picking. I took my time to scan the different choices. I knew that I wasn't going to buy roses; I just wasn't inclined to.

I finally picked a bouquet with blooming yellow lilies, red carnations, an orange gerbera daisy, yellow and purple chrysanthemums and a few others which names I didn't know but whose colors blended with the rest of the flowers along with the greens.

I had the bouquet in a vase with replenished water for a week. It was a visual treat and an inviting scent of the outdoors that I was able to enjoy, especially when I arrived home from work or when I would read my book while sipping a cup of hot green tea with honey and lemon.

Whereas folks go to Farmers Markets for their own reasons, I primarily do so to admire the flowers even if I don't necessarily make a purchase. And when I do, they're always inspiringly good company at home.

  1. I'm not a flower person. I just bought myself a Nestle Cookies and Cream Chocolate today.

  2. I like that chocolate, too!

After a weekend walk by the beach, I went to a cafe and got a hot Belgian raspberry cocoa. I even got a free sample of their (Leonidas) praline chocolate square! :)
