About two hours ago, I woke up with the local evening news on. I must have dozed off again while watching TV.
I tend to feel a little disoriented when just newly awakened. On the TV screen, I heard newscasters talking about Senator Edward (Ted) Kennedy's life and accomplishments. That was when I realized ... he died.
Flipping through different channels where the local news was on, and eventually to CNN, his death was confirmed. He was 77 years old and died of a malignant brain tumor, a diagnosis in May 2008, after experiencing a seizure at his home in Cape Cod.
Sen. Kennedy was from Boston, Massachusetts with a 47-year career in the United States Senate. As I listened to CNN commentaries about his impact in U.S. politics and the American cultural landscape as part of the legendary Kennedy clan, I began my own reflections of awe and appreciation in my own way.
I am sure that in the next several days, more will be said and written about Sen. Kennedy's life and legacy. This is just my little space of memorializing him.
