Cherubs

Songs echo from hallowed walls
Of a cavernous sanctuary,
Summoning my every step
Along cobble-stoned halls.
Otherworldly hymns
Take me out of myself
Whirling toward the sky
And without fear, I could fly!
Cherubs eagerly greet me
With welcoming smiles and
Knowing glances and poses of play
Teasing a heart
A moment ago in prayer.
They sing their songs and smile their smiles
With an offertory of hope;
Sending inspiration to dream and heal,
Gently calming and redeeming souls.
