Two weeks after their first playoff game match, the Atlanta Hawks eliminated the Miami Heat in Game 7 with a 91 vs. 78 points win.
No more Erik Spoelstra and Dwayne Wade and company for the season.
Honestly, I really didn't follow this game as I thought that I would. And in these two weeks, Spoelstra became just another face in the crowd for me ... well, make that the court sidelines and media footnote.
I see a colleague's point about the structure of the NBA playoffs. He admits not to be too attentive to the first/early round series, no matter how entertaining or intense it may be to some fans, partisan crowds, or casual viewers. He thinks that the "real" playoff happens as the top teams start to compete with each other towards the ultimate goal of a championship.
Meanwhile, as eliminated teams 'go fishing,' triumphant teams move on to the next level. Between Miami and Atlanta, it is currently a moment for the Hawks for as long they can.
Their next face off: the Cleveland Cavaliers with LeBron James and company.
