I pulled up "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak from YouTube.com. It was so irresistible that I posted it on my Facebook wall. I like the live version of the song...there's something more intimate about it, which is my impression of most live performances. The song itself, when you pay attention to the lyrics, alludes to heartbreak and bitterness, but what captivated me more was the melody and the enveloping sound of the guitar -- head-turning, sensual, lingering. Of course, there IS the singer, Chris Isaak. The video on my Facebook was the best that I have seen of him, without the exaggerated hairstyle. Probably because it was the most "normal" to me. He looked really sharp and dreamily handsome. Hahaha! Needless to say, watching the video and hearing him sing whenever I want to access it, regardless of how repeatedly I play it, always makes me smile. And there are times that I breathlessly squirm whenever he hits that prolonged (~9 seconds) tone towards the end of the song.
On so many levels, it is indeed a wicked game.
