Full Moon

Warmly dressed, it felt nice to welcome the December chill as I briskly walked to my bus stop on the way home. Stretching my neck, my view caught the night sky. It was indigo blue with brushes of white wisps from scattered clouds. I knew that it was a night of the full moon so I searched for it. As I stood still to get settled, there it was! No cloud or fog obstructed my view so I was able to look at it and admire its brightness. It was a single round pearl up above. It looked farther away than other times when I would see the visible moon in the sky but it was still captivating. I remember nights from long ago when the moonshine was the sole source of light in an otherwise dark, quiet evening...in a different place and time...where it cast dancing shadows and imaginings. I wonder how many people still look up at the night sky, beyond city lights and glittering Christmas decorations. Because up there is something elusive yet eternal. And as one pays attention or searches, maybe somehow, you too, can feel the mystery, fascination, and magic.
