Moonstruck

--------------------------
In this image provided by NASA a gibbous moon is visible above Earth's atmosphere, photographed by an STS-128 crew member on the Space Shuttle Discovery Sunday Aug. 30, 2009. A gibbous moon is one of the phases of the Moon, when the size of the illuminated portion is greater than half but not a full Moon. (AP Photo/NASA)

This photograph is a humbling reminder of humanity's insignificance within the larger scheme of the universe.

It is also an alluring image of nature's ongoing mystery and the haunting inspiration for relentless exploration. Perhaps because in doing so, we are seeking truths within ourselves as well, individually and collectively.

Or, the photo can just simply be ... captivating.
