Keen on Keane

Thanks to a friend who let me borrow his downloaded disc of Keane songs, I have discovered a band (other than U2) whose music I enjoy listening to. It is a British band and U2's influence is unmistakable, yet I sense that they bring their own style. The sounds of the piano and rhythm of the drums bring both reflective and upbeat moods that make the music inviting and refreshing. The vocals also feel like a caress that soothes or a flirtation that dares.

As I continuously listen to the tracks, I realized that I have heard some of the songs here and there before; I just didn't know the artist who sang them (Tom Chaplin, lead vocalist). And as long as I have my friend's CD to listen to until I have my very own for keepsake, I have the luxury to keep playing it as Keane's music transports me to an atmospheric mood and time.
