Jacaranda Dreams

Have you ever been through the hilly streets of San Francisco? Those roller-coaster like crests and troughs that would make your stomach a little fluttery even as you were teased by the amazing view (if you're lucky and it isn't foggy) of the San Francisco Bay?

Shortly before waking up from a nap, I dreamt that I was in a car that was making its steep descent. Although the steep street reminded me of San Francisco, I knew I wasn't in the city since both sides of the streets were lined by jacaranda trees in their full bloom! It was like passing through a curtain of velvet just as an abyss-like plunge was about to happen. I woke up just at that moment.

No, I didn't wake up in a cold sweat. I just remembered the vividness of the jacarandas and the street's center divider that shone against the sun because it was a cable car path.

The jacarandas were beautiful and I still see, in my waking life, blossoming trees in my neighborhood at this time of the year. I just have to remember not to step on the fallen blossoms where they make a sticky mess.
