Yesterday while in Downtown Los Angeles, our office staff had a tour of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Mark Taper Forum and the Ahmanson Theater.
It was an informative tour led by a very animated and passionate symphonian (docent), Fabiola.
But I think my favorite moment was our group lunch in honor of a soon-to-retire colleague at the Smeraldi's Restaurant in the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel, a few blocks away. It was an enjoyable lunch with great company and food.
We took some time to tour the Biltmore before we walked back to Bunker Hill. The hotel's ambiance was very impressive and I felt like transported back in time. There was a wall photo of its grand opening in 1923 in the elegant Crystal Ballroom. Some day, I would like to linger back to the Biltmore for tea or lunch, and savor a bit of history and luxury with a city icon.
